Explanation Regarding the Eligibility Determination for Nova League Winter Split Contestants

The Staff have received inquiries concerning the eligibility of characters from "Chou Kaguya-hime!". The following explanation is provided in accordance with the rules. Please be advised that the following text may contain major spoilers for the anime. The ISML 2026 Charter stipulates the following: I.C.1. In the same series, all representations satisfying any of the following conditions shall be regarded as "the same character": I.C.1.1. Having changed names, titles, code names, or identities; I.C.1.2. Having undergone significant appearance changes due to age; I.C.1.3. New representations resulting from gender swap, transformation, modification, disguise, alteration, splitting, merging, amnesia, dreams, resurrection, personality changes, timeline shifts, world line shifts, fantasy worlds, virtual worlds, or similar reasons; I.C.1.4. Other circumstances determined by the Staff. I.C.2. Even if the conditions set forth in Section I.C.1 are met, the following representations may not be considered the same character: I.C.2.1. The connection between the representation and other representations has not yet been revealed; I.C.2.2. The representation has lost connection to other representations of the same character; I.C.2.3. New representations resulting from reincarnation, cloning, duplication, etc., appearing under a completely new name and identity; I.C.2.4. Other circumstances determined by the Staff. Following an investigation, the Staff have determined that the two representations of the character appearing in the anime, "Kaguya" and "Runami Yachiyo", satisfy the conditions set forth in I.C.1.1, I.C.1.2, and I.C.1.3, and do not fall under any of the exceptional circumstances described in I.C.2. Accordingly, they shall be treated as the same character and may only participate under a single representation. Considering the screen time of both representations, the Staff have decided to use "Kaguya" as the entry name for this character. The following measures will be applied to the relevant nomination ballots: 1. Ballots that nominated only "Kaguya": Remain unchanged. 2. Ballots that nominated only "Runami Yachiyo": Will be counted as nominations for "Kaguya". 3. Ballots that nominated both "Kaguya" and "Yotsumi Yachiyo": The nomination for "Yotsumi Yachiyo" will be discarded individually. If, after this removal, the ballot would be rendered invalid due to non‑compliance with other rule requirements, the Staff have decided to grant an exception, given that the Nomination Phase for the Winter Split has already concluded and voters can no longer modify their ballots. Such ballots will be retained as valid.
